Tucked away on a quiet corner at Mohamed Sultan Road, Nickeldime River Valley presents an impressive showcase of international craft beers and a mouthwatering menu of contemporary pub dish recipes with a laidback setting perfect for an evening's hangout with friends.
We spent an evening sampling some of their signature dishes specially prepared by Australian Chief Executive Chef Tim Ashwood who has over a decade of global experience in the French dining scene. Highlights of Nickeldime River Valley:
Scotch Eggs, Stout Brown Sauce
An alternate twist to how the traditional Scotch Egg is made with sausage meat replaced by smoked streaky bacon and coated with specially prepared house bread crumbs. The eggs are boiled to perfection with an ideal texture that meshes well with the crispiness of the outer coating and English brown sauce caramelised with dark chocolate stout.
Pickled Beetroot & Witlof Salad
A perfect dish for those sticking to a light diet. The beetroot is slow roasted, peeled and pickled in maple syrup and sherry vinegar although it could still come across as relatively raw to those who are tasting beetroot for the first time. However the combination of hazelnuts and juicy orange segments do add a refreshing nutty zest to the salad’s flavour overall.
Croque Madame
A traditional French cafe dish, Croque Madame is a baked or fried ham and cheese sandwich topped with a fried egg. Nickeldime gives a modern twist to this classic dish as it layers its in-house made leavened brioche with Dijon Mustard, hand carved leg ham and a cream layer comprised of mozzarella, cheddar, gruyere and IPA beer. A hearty dish that you definitely shouldn’t miss out on.
Confit Duck Waffle
Instead of the chicken and waffle combination we are all too familiar with, check out Nickeldime's Confit Duck Waffle dish. The waffle is crispy yet fluffy - a definite hit to all waffle lovers - that comes with a duck leg cured for twelve hours before being slow cooked in duck fat. The stout glazed bacon served alongside was a plus point to the dish as it adds a unique streak of sweet intense flavour together with the waffle.
Last but not least, for craft beer aficionados, Nickeldime River Valley always has sixteen distinctive international craft beers on tap with a wide selection ranging from the light and fruity such as Stone & Wood Green Coast LAger and Lervig Orange Velvet, to more complex brews that includes Pirate Life Mosaic IPA and Black Butte Porter.
