Cafes and fast food restaurants have always been ideal places for studying, working or conducting small and quick meetings. They are great because they have food (the most important thing), are cosy places to get stuff done.

However, you want to make sure you go to a cafe which has some of the basic requirements of a good working space.

You want WiFi, power sockets, comfortable seats and staff who won’t kick you out or give you dirty looks. So if you’re looking for a place to study or work at, here are five of the best cafes in Singapore where you can be totally productive in.

1. The Book Cafe

The Book Cafe is a great place for studying or working remotely mainly because it opens up at 8.30am and stays open till 10.30pm. The cafe itself is very cosy and is beautifully decorated with books.

Perfect if you’re a writer or hoping to get inspiration for that essay you’ve been stuck on.

The cafe has WiFi and come with many power sockets. They also make amazing coffee for you to get that caffeine fix as you work. The only downside (or plus side if you’re into this stuff) is the fact that there is shared seating in the cafe.

2. Jewel Cafe and Bar

Jewel Cafe and Bar is a great place to work at mainly because it has many branches and each one is equally good. So you don’t have to worry about traveling too far for a conducive work space.

The cafe has many power sockets and seats and serves up a great cup of coffee. They also have a loyalty programme so you can really get your money’s worth if you come here often enough.

Their branches are also located in places where it would be fairly easy to find other work-friendly cafes in case they are too crowded.

The only downside is that they tend to close rather early at 7pm.

3. Blocs Inc. Specialty Coffee

Blocs Inc. Specialty Coffee is a relatively inexpensive and unique cafe which allows customers to customise their own food and coffee.

The cafe uses tagged blocks to allow customers to build their idea coffee and brick toast sets which is a fun way to add a little something extra to the entire process. Aside from that, the cafe provides a cosy and lovely space for you to work remotely.

4. The Glass Onion

The Glass Onion is a fairly new bistro located near SMU.

The cafe serves up amazing pasta, bar bites, salads and burger dishes. It also boasts a great place to get some work done. The bistro is brightly lit and very open which can really be a mood-booster.

The cafe also opens at 6.30am to cater to the Hotel Mi guests. However, you are still welcome in the cafe even if you are not a hotel guest so if you’re an early bird, this is the place for you.
