Regarded as the Father of Mindfulness and founder of Plum Village, the West's largest and most active monastery based in France, Thích Nhất Hạnh has had a huge impact in shaping the world through his words of peace, non-violence, mindfulness, community and love. 

From humble beginnings in Vietnam, he began to get noticed for his teachings in the 1960s on Engaged Buddhism (or Humanistic Buddhism), which propelled the idea that Buddhism needed to do more than contemplative meditation and instead seek ways to apply their insights to change the world for the better. 

His courageous stance against the Vietnam War and personal example of demonstrating compassion and forgiveness through his life also led to a nomination by Martin Luther King Jr for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1967 and the Courage of Conscience Award in 1991.

The marketplace provides us with many items to help us in our effort to avoid the suffering inside.”
