Orchid Extravaganza

This year’s Orchid Extravaganza pays homage to Singapore's multicultural heritage and celebrates her pop culture with a creative spin on familiar icons, as seen through the eyes of multi-talented Singaporean singer-songwriter Dick Lee. By blending flora and pop art, the orchard display features landmarks and objects that have become part of local culture. For instance, slipper orchids allude to Peranakan nonya slippers while colourful orchids hanging from bamboo poles are a nod to the practice of hanging clothes out to dry.
Baybeats

The Straits Times Run

In its seventh year, The Straits Times Run 2019 is shaking things up again as they're promoting the event to a very specific audience - schools. The run gives school runners (even those who do not represent their school on a regular basis) an opportunity to do so in a mass participation event. They also have a new 3.5km Fun Run for th epublic to celebrate ST publisher Singapore Press Holdings’ 35th anniversary. While the 10km and 18.45km distances will return in due time, the ST Run organizers hope that the new categories will inspire you and your school to get moving.
